‘MYMENSINGH PRAKTANI’ BRINGING THE EAST BENGAL’S CULTURE, UPFRONT

Mymensingh was the largest district of Bengal before partisan of Bengal. Earlier the greater Mymensingh district consisted of the present Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Netrakona, Tangail, Jamalpur, and Sherpur districts in Dhaka Division of Bangladesh. The present Indian state i.e. West Bengal consists many people belonging to this district in terms of their ancestral and parental connection. Many noted intellectuals, scientists, writers, administrators, etc. belong from this district. It has a very long history of feudalism and kingship. The district boasts of a strong Bengali traditional culture. Many celebrities are part of the district both from history and even in present times.

The district was also known as a cultural and intellectual capital of Bangladesh. In a vision of remembering the tradition, history, culture of Mymensingh, the migrants of Mymensingh in India and even outside have created a social organization titled ‘Mymensingh Praktani’. However, the present name is Mymensingh Praktani however; the history of this organization is beyond 100 years. It existed in a name called ‘Mymensingh Sammeloni’.
